Last updated: 07/01/2026 · Effective for uniworldedu.org and the UniWorld J-1 Camp Counselor Program
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of uniworldedu.org (the "Website") and your participation in UniWorld's J-1 Camp Counselor Program (the "Program"), operated by UniWorld ("UniWorld," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing the Website, submitting an application, or participating in the Program, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Website or apply to the Program.
The Program is intended for university students and young adults who meet the eligibility requirements of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, including but not limited to English language proficiency, prior experience working with children, and any additional criteria set by UniWorld or its partner camps. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the Program or placement with a host camp. UniWorld reserves the right to decline any application at its discretion.
UniWorld facilitates participation in the J-1 Camp Counselor cultural exchange program, including application review, camp placement assistance, issuance of program documentation (such as the DS-2019, where applicable), and pre-departure and in-program support. UniWorld does not guarantee placement with any specific camp, geographic location, or role, and camp assignments are made based on participant qualifications, host camp needs, and program availability.
Applicants may be required to pay a program fee, deposit, or other charges as disclosed at the time of application. All fees are described on the Website or provided directly to applicants and are subject to change. [INSERT: refund/cancellation policy — e.g., whether fees are refundable if an applicant is not placed, withdraws, or is denied a visa.] UniWorld is not responsible for fees or expenses incurred by participants that are not explicitly included in the Program, including but not limited to travel, visa application fees, insurance, or personal expenses.
Participation in the Program is conditioned on compliance with the regulations governing the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program (22 CFR Part 62) and the requirements of UniWorld as a program sponsor [or prospective sponsor, pending Department of State designation]. This includes, without limitation:
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in termination from the Program and reporting to the U.S. Department of State as required by law, which can affect your immigration status.
Participants are expected to act professionally and responsibly at all times, including but not limited to:
Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in dismissal from your host camp and/or termination from the Program (see Section 13).
You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not: (a) use the Website in any way that violates applicable law; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Website or any systems or networks connected to it; (c) submit false or misleading information in an application; or (d) use any automated system to access the Website in a manner that sends more request messages than a human could reasonably produce.
All content on the Website, including text, graphics, logos, and images (excluding user-submitted content and stock/placeholder imagery), is the property of UniWorld or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our prior written consent.
The Website may contain links to third-party websites, including application portals or host camp websites, that are not owned or controlled by UniWorld. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party sites. Host camps are independent organizations; while UniWorld screens and supports placements, we are not the employer of participants at their host camp and are not responsible for the day-to-day supervision decisions made by host camp staff.
The Website and Program are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. UniWorld does not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular camp placement, visa outcome, or program experience will meet your expectations. Visa issuance is determined solely by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. consular officials, and UniWorld cannot guarantee approval of any visa application.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UniWorld and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Website or participation in the Program, including but not limited to personal injury, property loss, visa denial, or loss of income, even if UniWorld has been advised of the possibility of such damages. [INSERT: any applicable liability cap, if desired — e.g., limited to fees paid to UniWorld.]
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UniWorld, its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or your conduct during the Program.
UniWorld may suspend or terminate your participation in the Program at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, your host camp's code of conduct, J-1 program regulations, or for conduct that UniWorld reasonably believes endangers the health, safety, or wellbeing of yourself or others. Termination from the Program may result in the shortening of your authorized stay and reporting of your status change to SEVIS, as required by law. [INSERT: refund policy in the event of dismissal, if applicable.]
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of law principles, and by applicable U.S. federal law governing the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Missouri. [INSERT: arbitration clause, if UniWorld prefers arbitration over litigation.]
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Website or participation in the Program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
